Rustic Thuringian-Franconian cuisine and the best currywurst east and west of Selbitz and Saale.
Interesting mix of nice and cranky, hard-working and a little overwhelmed. But always courteous and a saying on the lips. Definitely visit, have a snack and have a drink. The prices are extremely moderate even for southern Thuringia. And the restaurant is also tastefully furnished.
Nice hotelier, good food
We actually wanted to take the train after the last (6th) Rennsteig stage, but decided differently during the day and wanted to end the tour with a meal and an overnight stay. So reserved a room by phone and arrived pretty exhausted around 6 p.m. The host is an original with a dry sense of humor. We got our room (everything ok !!!) and a delicious dinner + beer (Förster Weisse) + Stichpimpuli. Special requests were also met. A very nice end to our tour! Thank you so much!
It is worth visiting this restaurant, good food and nice and funny host.
Supi the host is a bomb
Good address for a beer and quick, inexpensive dinner! Particularly popular with hikers and cyclists. Simple and straightforward but tasty and eventful! Also ok for overnight stay, no star accommodation but clean and cheap!
We visited the restaurant here and ate our supper. There is an absolutely cozy atmosphere here, thanks to the host and there are line impulses! An absolute recommendation.
Rennsteig beginning, too bad that it can not be modernized!
Harald is an original. We started our tour from here. Anyone who expects romantically decorated rooms is wrong here. Who wants value on sociable stories as well as dry humor from the host and a simple overnight stay, is served here. On request, almost all the wishes of the host were met with dry, flippant, humorous answers. Everything fits with the price.
Absolutely authentic storyteller who practices his craft directly and without frills. If you are traveling and want to meet and get to know the country AND people, this is the place for you! Franconian beer and solid food complete the offer of the pension. Hipp-Hipp Harald!
Good coffee and cake. Hall well suited for celebrations. Nice service. Good sanitary facilities.
After 9 days of Rennsteig, we were now in Blankenstein, unfortunately we had missed the last train by 40 minutes. Well, we stopped at the Rennsteig inn. We received an elderly gentleman who came across very superficially and unfriendly to guests. You immediately had the feeling of not being welcome, of disturbing him. Room was quite big, but almost empty. 1 double bed and an extra bed. 1 wardrobe. Table without chairs. Mega small TV, maybe. 12-16 inches. everything was loveless, did not fit into the beautiful landscape. Bathroom, germinated shower screen / mold, defective. Towels dirty and (I feel sick). Washbasin cracked, calcified. Room windows DDR standard, could not be opened. The room was a shame for the Rennsteig. The owner, who lives the rest of the house, has a control mania, twice the older man knocked on our door. Departure day, was like a kick, according to the employee 1 day before, it was said that we had to leave by 10 a.m. After 15 minutes, we were never out again! We were able to observe some guests who left immediately. Short info, we were there 2 nights (3 people). That was by far the worst hospitality on the Rennsteig ..., sad for Thuringia and tourism
All the best, fair prices like talking to other guests and former mayors was very interesting.
Well, please don't complain and be glad that there is any accommodation there, for a night before or after the Rennsteig that is probably enough, even if the inn is of course a bit "Vorwendig" and the charm of the two hosts is something special, but then you have something to tell at home! I come in any case always gladly again!
After 8 days on the Rennsteig hike, we too had the crazy idea of wanting to eat something in this restaurant on a Saturday just before 8 p.m. ... no chance: the kitchen was already closed, the cook was already at home ... we were sent away ... not a good advertisement for the Rennsteigtourisnus !!!
After 6 days on the Rennsteig we wanted to stay in an inn again ... Bad idea The host at the reception was very unfriendly and gave the impression that it would be too much to just get up from his TV and give us the room key. The rooms .. deep GDR and simply glazed windows that also gave the impression of falling out. The room made a very bad impression in general We then returned the key and preferred to take the train home for another 4 hours that day No insight from the host
Good dinner. Decent breakfast. Clean and spacious rooms. Very fair prices. Gladly again.
